An Every-So-Often Update from The Town

The Town Budget covers the period from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

The County Assessor increased the value of Onancock Real Estate by 19.1%. This creates what is called an Equalized Real Property Tax Rate Increase.

The Town Council is holding a budget workshop on May 13, 20204, at 6:00 PM. Please attend to learn this and more.

While some Town Council Budget Workshops do not invite public comment, the Town Council has added a second public hearing!

The town council solicits more input and opinions from residents at its typically scheduled meeting at 7:00 PM on May 20, 2024. Please come and participate. The budget vote will be held on June 24, 2024.

There is so much going on around town, and more to come!

The Welcome Center and Restrooms will add flair and function to the heart of downtown—late summer completion.

The Police Station will give you an open lobby with a way to approach our officers—late summer completion.

We are designing a patio to sit and enjoy the sunset or breeze of the Bay.

There are too many private renovations to count, and all will add value to the town.

You can feel the vibrancy, can't you?

You may have noticed (hopefully not personally!) that the police department has been stepping up the level of enforcement.

The town receives consistent complaints about speeding, such as, "If you're not going to enforce the rules, why have them?" We are currently focusing on speeding and parking, but as needs change, their focus will change. We have a fantastic police force, and they are helping us all stay safe.

Please thank them when you see them.

An Onancock Welcome!

Boating season is easing into the slips (if the weather returns to normal!)

Nothing makes our boating guests happier than when residents and dog walkers stop to say hello and talk for a few minutes.

Please don't be shy, welcome our guests the way we are famous for.
