ICYMI: Today's Employee Update and Guidance
Earlier today, we sent an update to all DPS team members sharing that we are staying in close contact with city and state leaders, as well as health officials, to determine the safest course of action for our team members following Gov. Jared Polis' announcement that Colorado will begin loosening some precautions currently in place.

We are hoping to share an update with all employees next week with additional information on when team members may be allowed to return to their worksites. As we shared, our overriding priority when making these decisions continues to be the health and well-being of our staff and community members.
Benefits Open Enrollment Is Live: Remind Your Teams to Take Action by May 8
Benefits open enrollment is now open through May 8, and every benefits-eligible team member must take action and either enroll in or waive DPS benefits . Leaders can support their teams by reminding them of this important deadline and sharing these resources:
Any benefits-eligible employees who do not take action during open enrollment will be automatically enrolled in the Aetna 3500 CDHP plan, a Health Savings Account (HSA) and Sick Leave Bank. To learn more, visit

Growth, Performance and Training
Host Spring Growth and Performance Check-Ins and Update Goals by April 30
Remember to review pending goals by April 30 for LIFT-eligible team members. You can also add comments to team members’ goals in Infor HR. And, stay tuned for more detailed guidance regarding shifts in the end-of-year appraisal process due to the switch to remote learning and work.

Important Dates for Teacher Transfers
Please note these upcoming deadlines for teacher transfers:

  • May 1 will be the last day for in-district DCTA teachers to be moved to "Qualify" in Infor HR for a central office role without permission from the sending principal; this includes teacher leaders.

  • June 1 will be the last day for in-district DCTA teachers to be moved to "Qualify" in Infor HR to another school without permission from the sending principal; this includes teacher leaders.

Permission does not need to be obtained for teachers whose 2019-20 positions have been completely reduced (effective for 2020-21 school year) or when a teacher is being promoted. While permission may not be necessary, a reference check should be completed for all hires. If you have questions, please contact your HR Partner.

Reminder: Your Input Matters -- Complete School Support Survey by Friday
As a reminder, the School Support Customer Service Survey -- which is your opportunity to provide feedback to our operations and school-support departments -- is open now through April 24. This survey is used as a tool to drive improvement and to recognize individuals. For example, based on prior feedback, our DoTS service desk expanded service hours and added a Spanish helpline.

ICYMI: Updates on Hiring and Purchasing
Please take a moment to read last week's memo regarding new guidelines limiting purchasing and hiring.
As a reminder, DPS implemented a non-school-based personnel hiring freeze for all vacant positions to manage resources and costs. School-level (i.e., principal, teacher, para and SSP) hiring for the 2020-21 school year may continue.
Also, new purchase orders and supplier contracts will only be allowed for essential services and supports; supplier payment for goods and services already received; or for other items that have been approved by the Deputy Superintendent for Operations.
