As summer temperatures rise, MSA encourages members to include sun safety in outdoor work planning.
UV exposure and heat can lead to sunburn, heat stress, eye damage, and long-term health risks such as skin cancer. Simple controls such as protective clothing, sunscreen, hydration, shade breaks, and scheduling heavier work during cooler hours can help reduce risk.
Members can also access Environmental - Safe Work Practices on the MSA website, which include guidance on working in heat and summer conditions, along with additional sun safety resources and training from WorkSafe Saskatchewan and Sun Smart Saskatchewan, including a free Safe Crews Work Sun Smart course.
