Summer Camps:

A Time to Build Confidence and Independence

Summer is almost here! For many kids, summer is a time for camps, sleepovers, and adventures. With the increase in technology and device use, however, so many kids have anxiety about and disinterest in participating in summer camps or out-of-the-house experiences. According to the American Camp Association, camps create quality experiences that build a world of belonging and growth. Participation in camps, whether they be overnight or day camps, can increase kids' independence and self-confidence, as well as improve communication and social skills.

If your child is anxious or fearful of participating in camps, the Child Mind Institute has some helpful tips. Let your child feel a sense of ownership, such as involving them in choosing a camp. Also, instead of dismissing or discounting their fears, saying "It's not scary!" or "Everybody loves camp!" acknowledge their concerns and practice building confidence through smaller experiences leading up to camp.

Mandala Wellness has camps covered for your family all summer long! Click here to learn more and sign up.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health support strengthens individuals, families, and communities. Engaging in conversations around mental wellness, challenges, and resources can reduce stigma and reach people early on, before challenges turn into crises. Mandala Wellness is committed to fostering overall wellness by supporting mind, body, and soul. Check out more resources for kids and teens from the Child Mind Institute and people of all ages through NAMI.
