We are excited to reveal a beautiful new mural in the welcome center of our church. The mural, hand painted by local artist Kimberly Miller, is a unique touch with a special message for all who enter. The mural begins with a rainbow, representing God's work and his promise to us. Out of the rainbow come hearts, signifying God's love for us. The hearts transition into butterflies, signifying the life changing power of Christ, which then transform into birds, representing the Holy Spirit sending us out into the world to. Finally, the mural ends with our new MLC logo which reminds us "God's Work, Our Hands" as we leave church each time to spread the message of Christ and do God's work in the world.
The rainbow has also come to symbolize LGBTQ community pride and conveys that all are welcome to worship and fellowship with us.
The welcome center serves a very important role on Sundays as the place where we greet visitors, share information and make everyone who enters feel welcome. This is an important ministry and sign ups for volunteers at this desk will be added to the Sign Up Genius we use for all Sunday Service positions. Training will be provided to anyone who would like to support this ministry.
Our mural artist, Kim Miller, holds a degree in fine arts from UNF and is the Executive Director and Founder of FemArt Gallery, Inc. (A nonprofit 501(c)3 organization committed to promoting and supporting women artists.) The organization will be opening a gallery in Riverside soon, and we invite everyone to check out the artists' work!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner Was a Success!
A beautiful evening of fellowship and pancakes was enjoyed on Shrove Tuesday with almost 40 people in attendance, including the Boy Scouts who helped serve and cleanup afterwards.
Thanks to Jack Cosentino and Sandy Mitten for lots of bacon, Beth and Jack Shuss for a crockpot of link sausages, and to Marilyn and Ralph Whitford for enough pancakes to feed an army.
You can see more photos from this event, as well as other MLC events, here.

The signs of Lent are everywhere! As we gathered for Ash Wednesday worship yesterday evening, we were reminded to make a U-Turn, turning away from our sins and turning back to God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Update on COVID Precautions
We are happy to see the level of COVID infections in our community go down recently but, as of Thursday morning, the CDC still has Duval county at a HIGH level of transmission and still recommends wearing a mask in indoor public gatherings.
We expect an update soon and will get the word out as soon as there is a change in that guidance.

National Lutheran Choir Virtual Spring Performance
Following the darkness of winter, we sing to the promise of life in our second virtual program of the season, O Blessed Spring. The program will draw musical inspiration from the seasons of nature, the seasons of life, and life in God with hymns and other works by hymn writers and composers such as Felix Mendelssohn, Ruth Duck, Hall Johnson, Susan Palo Cherwien, and Robert Hobby. Both the choir and viewers will sing as we look toward a brighter future more connected to the world than ever before.
This program is free to all! Visit our homepage beginning March 20th to watch.
