Registration for the 2025 Manufacture Alabama Annual Meeting is now open! The Annual Meeting will be held September 10-12 at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL.


The 2025 Annual Meeting will feature sessions focused on the most pressing issues facing today’s manufacturers. With a focus on both challenges and opportunities, this year’s agenda is designed to help manufacturers navigate an increasingly complex landscape and position themselves for long-term success.


Additionally, we're excited to announce special events including a golf and pickleball tournament on September 10 at Lakewood Club. Registration for these activities can be found here.

Manufacture Alabama Welcomes Ed Poolos as ADEM Director


Manufacture Alabama welcomes Edward F. Poolos on his recent appointment as Director of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), succeeding Lance LeFleur. The announcement came Friday following a vote by the Alabama Environmental Management Commission after interviewing four finalists for the position.

GLAM Camp inspiring the next generation of future female engineers


Girls Learning About Manufacturing (GLAM) recently held its third annual camp at Bishop State Community College to introduce girls to STEM and manufacturing fields, typically male-dominated. The free program, backed by sponsors like Novelis and AM/NS Calvert, offers hands-on experiences in technology and engineering, including VR welding and facility tours.

Austal USA Launches First Steel Ship Future USNA Billy Frank Jr. (T-ATS 11)


Austal USA successfully launched the company’s first steel ship, the future USNS Billy Frank Jr. (T-ATS 11), on June 14. Named after a native American Korean War veteran who, as an activist, fought for justice and environmental preservation in the Northwest United States, Billy Frank Jr. is a Navy Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ship – one of 3 under construction at Austal USA and the first steel product of the company’s state-of-the-art automated steel panel line.

Mazda Toyota Manufacturing Honored with Impact Award, Unveils Grant Fund Winners  



Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) announced grants totaling $168,000 given to 24 organizations that participated in the 2025 MTM Spring Grant Fund. This is the sixth round of grant funding distributed by MTM since 2022. Nonprofit organizations who apply are down selected through the grant fund process; finalists participate in a “MTM Pitch Day,” where they have five minutes to pitch their organization’s program to the MTM grant committee. Every finalist receives a grant of $1,000, with larger awards going to those who are selected by the committee.

ArcelorMittal completes the acquisition of Nippon Steel Corporation’s interest in AM/NS Calvert


The facility, now renamed ArcelorMittal Calvert, was originally acquired by ArcelorMittal and NSC in 2014 from ThyssenKrupp for total consideration of $1.55 billion. The operation was originally built at a cost of approximately $5 billion. It commenced operations in 2010 and has a flat rolled steel capacity of 5.3 million metric tonnes, annually. Kimberly-Clark To Invest $130+ Million In Expansion Of Mobile Facility


Kimberly-Clark Corporation announced plans to expand its Mobile manufacturing facility as part of its commitment to deliver breakthrough innovation. Specifically, the company will invest in a new production line dedicated to creating its next generation of consumer-preferred hygiene products.


The project represents a capital investment of more than $130 million and will create approximately 29 highly skilled, new jobs.
