Join Manufacture Alabama and the Alabama Chemistry Council for a meeting to discuss the most pressing issues and opportunities impacting the sector. This half-day program, open exclusively to chemical manufacturers (both members and non-members) will feature updates from the Alabama Department of Commerce, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), and the American Chemistry Council. Conversations will center on sector-specific challenges, regulatory priorities, and opportunities for collaboration across Alabama’s chemical manufacturing community.

Building a Brighter Future: Toyota Invests in Childcare Centers for Manufacturing Team Members
Toyota is taking bold steps to support working parents as the company adds four, all-new childcare centers across its manufacturing footprint. New centers will serve parents at Toyota North Carolina, Toyota Mississippi, Toyota Alabama and Toyota West Virginia, building upon two existing childcare facilities for Toyota’s Kentucky and Indiana plants. Each of the new childcare centers is being developed in collaboration with third party, high-quality childcare providers and will align with plant production schedules, helping to ensure that team members can balance work and family responsibilities.

Austal USA Receives Contract and Commences Construction on Second Offshore Patrol Cutter for US Coast Guard
Austal USA has received a contract option award from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) for the construction of the second Stage 2 Heritage-class Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) and the acquisition of long lead-time material to support construction of a third Stage 2 OPC. The US $273 million option is part of a contract that includes options for up to 11 OPC’s, with a potential value of US$3.3 billion. Construction of the second OPC, Icarus (WSMM 920), has commenced at the company’s Mobile, Alabama, shipbuilding facility.

ArcelorMittal completes the acquisition of Nippon Steel Corporation’s interest in AM/NS Calvert
The facility, now renamed ArcelorMittal Calvert, was originally acquired by ArcelorMittal and NSC in 2014 from ThyssenKrupp for total consideration of $1.55 billion. The operation was originally built at a cost of approximately $5 billion. It commenced operations in 2010 and has a flat rolled steel capacity of 5.3 million metric tonnes, annually. It is one of the most advanced steel finishing facilities in North America.

Lockheed Martin awarded $9.5B missile contract, boosting operations at Alabama plant
Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $9.5 billion contract to increase production of two of the U.S. military’s most advanced long-range missiles—both of which are manufactured at the company’s Pike County facility in Troy, Alabama.
