Middleborough is set to welcome a transformative addition to its business community: Rexa, Inc., a global leader in electrohydraulic equipment and technical process control solutions. Known for serving industries such as renewable energy, oil and gas, and water and wastewater, Rexa’s plan to expand in Middleborough underscores the town’s appeal as a hub for innovation and economic growth.
To accommodate increased customer demand, Rexa intends to construct a state-of-the-art 110,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility. The project, representing a $33 million investment will retain 100 jobs and create 25 new jobs in the town. Rick Schuhwerk, Executive Managing Director at Newmark, led the site search that identified the property owned by V.M.D Companies, LLC a premier real estate development firm. This expansion is set to generate significant economic benefits, including increased real estate tax revenue and an estimated $1 million in annual spending at local businesses.
Recognizing the opportunity for mutual benefits, Business Development Strategies, Inc. (BDS), Massachusetts’ leading government tax incentives consulting firm, partnered with Rexa to secure a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) agreement with Middleborough. Led by Lynn Tokarczyk, the BDS team collaborated closely with local officials to navigate the approval process and highlight Rexa’s long-term contributions to the community.
“Middleborough is proud to support Rexa’s next chapter and is excited to welcome them as a valued partner in our community," said Jay McGrail, Middleborough Town Manager. "The unanimous approval of the Rexa TIF at Town Meeting reflects our collective commitment to fostering economic growth, creating jobs, and strengthening the local economy. This partnership marks a significant milestone for Middleborough, and we look forward to the shared success and positive impact it will bring for years to come.”
"Through BDS’s expert guidance and strong government relations, Middleborough approved a substantial TIF package that aligns with our vision for growth," said Geoff Hynes, President at Rexa. "This agreement provides the financial framework necessary for expanding our operations and highlights the town’s commitment to supporting Rexa’s long-term real estate expansion plans."
