Ramping Back Up Under COVID
A four-part series of tools and resources to help your company ramp back up and stay safe and stay open for business
We have compiled a series of tools and resources your company can start using today to ramp back up production during these tumultuous times. Each one can be used as a stand-alone resource or as a series of deeper and more detailed guides. As always, feel free to use these tools on your own or reach out to our staff for more guidance. We are here to help.

The series consists of four parts:

1) A Quick Start Guide to Staying Open - a brief 5-page PDF designed to give you a snapshot overview of strategies to maintain employee safety, employee health, and facility safety with links to materials and information from OSHA, CDPHE, NIOSH, and WHO (available to download here)

2) Preventative Manufacturing Measures: Part 1 - checklist with suggestions on everything from facility-wide communication to changing time clock procedures to minimize contact (available May 1 via email and on the website)

3) Preventative Manufacturing Measures: Part 2 - a deeper dive into the specific tools and strategies you should consider in terms of safe access and egress, monitoring and screening, recommended PPE, contact tracing, and much more (available May 6 via email and on the website)

4) Event Response and Business Recovery - a four-part webinar series and a comprehensive checklist to prepare you for whatever unexpected events your company may face in the future (find out more)

Please join us for a webinar on Friday, May 8 for a brief introduction to this suite of tools and a Q&A session with various members from the Manufacturer's Edge team:

COVID-19 Lessons & NIST Cybersecurity Framework

Jennifer Kurtz, Cyber Program Director, Manufacturer's Edge
Darwin's observation about survival of the fittest seems especially apt as we work through this COVID-19 time. "Fittest" doesn't mean fastest, strongest, wealthiest. Some of the world's most advanced economies-the United States included-have proved highly vulnerable to cascading failures experienced from disruptions in supply chains, reliance on inadequate inventory, insufficient preparation, short-term profiteering, and bureaucratic obstacles. During this real-time social experiment, the challenge is to be more fit, that is, more adapted to this new context, our new normal. Flattening the curve, social distancing, self-quarantine, better hygiene are necessary adaptations for individuals, companies, and society. Such protective measures align with the NIST cybersecurity framework (CSF), a model for how we can proceed more safely.

The practices recommended in the CSF line up with what we are learning about managing public health risk: prepare, identify, protect, detect, respond, recover.
tailwindSpotlight on Colorado Manufacturing Heroes:
Tailwind Nutrition
These are, undeniably, difficult times. Many people are suffering and businesses are facing unbelievable challenges. But, through it all, we have seen the indelible spirit of innovation and community shine through. To that end, we are pleased to present a new series as we shine a spotlight on some of the heroes in Colorado manufacturing.

First up, we received an email from our friends at Tailwind Nutrition and we'd like to share with our readers what they have been doing to address the COVID-related needs in their community.

"After hearing from many nurses and doctors that reached out asking if we can donate product due to their increasingly long shifts and finding it hard to get the calories and nutrients needed to stay energized, we launched a Hospital Campaign focused on donating products to hospitals across the country. We have also created a Hospital Product Donation in which we will match all donations from the community. We have lowered our prices on Endurance Fuel and Rebuild for the month of April on our website to allow everyone the ability to remain active and help promote an active lifestyle."
