Where Everyone Belongs

A Shared Life, A Shared Table

"Troy likes knowing that when neighbors stop by, the veggies will be just right."

What we envision for Many Hands is already a reality in Lifesharing communities around the country — and Troy's story captures it beautifully.

Every Wednesday, Troy is ready. It’s produce pick-up day, and he and his PAL (Professional Advocate Lifesharer), Cam, carefully pack boxes with lettuce, carrots, eggplant, and raspberries — the same amount in each one. Troy takes his time. He likes knowing that when neighbors stop by, the veggies will be just right.

By lunchtime, the Village buzzes with delicious smells. Inside the Community Center, tables are set, and Residents who spent the morning in the kitchen proudly serve what they helped prepare. Washing, peeling, stirring, grating — each task is a chance to learn something new. When someone drops a pot, there’s a hug and a reminder that compassion matters too.

After lunch, everyone heads off to their afternoon Learning Blocks: art in the craft house, music therapy, trail walks, or playing with the animals.

And on weekends? Families come to visit, picnic under the trees, and take home a box of produce — and a little of the magic, too.
