Open House 2023 Was Phenomenal!

Thanks to All Our

Americans in Wartime so appreciates ALL of you! You showed up in great numbers and supported us and we are incredibly grateful! We need all of you as we continue to raise funds and push forward to the opening of this great Experience coming to Woodbridge, Virginia.

We thank you for your kind words:

Always a great event to attend. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

Chad Carey

Big shout out from the 9th Guards to all the people who make this event happen. Everyone is great to work with and you treat us reenactors so well. We love it every year and can't wait for 2024.

Lis Andrea

My boys loved their third year of reenacting—thank you for creating a great space for them (& their 13 friends & associates)!

Amy Procak

Thank you to everyone! My 20 year old son and myself had an amazing time! First visit, come from PA and hope to return next year!

Rob Laing

Thank you all. I took my son and we both had a blast. We were lucky enough to get our names called for a ride in the armored personnel carrier and my 5 year had one of the best times of his life!

Jeff Shuman

A very impressive event! Thanks to all who made it happen - I know events like that take a lot of work to pull off.

Chris Townsend

Our first time this year. This was AN EXCEPTIONALLY ORGANIZED EVENT

Andy Marshy Marsh

Big ups to all that made this event happen.

Americans in Wartime Experience, Where can I find information about helping next year?

John Morthole

The entire open house was exceptional. Personal favorites were the Chinook & crew and the flamethrower.

Justin Marc

John Morthole personal favorites for me were the Walker Bulldog, the Hetzer, and the huge self-propelled artillery, though my friend Alex and my eldest daughter were also both enthralled by the Chinook.

I think the flamethrower is almost everyone's favorite (or top 3 at least)!

And these last two notes truly touched us as this is why we do what we do. They fully embody our mission to Educate, Honor, and Inspire others. Thank you for inspiring us!

Justin Marc

Thanks for an amazing event this weekend!

We started off on Saturday with my tween grumbling about being "forced to come" and wanting to go back home to play her games while we were waiting in line to go in. She asked what we were doing there and I said we were going to see some tanks and do some fun things, and in her snarky tween way she glanced left and said "now we've seen them, can we go now?"

Fast forward a little bit in time as she's seeing all the sights and learning new things while doing the scavenger hunt, and when her mother, grandmother, and little sister left a couple hours later, she asked to stay there longer with me, and by the end of the day she was asking to return on Sunday.

She and her little sister begged me to go back on Sunday morning, so we attended the second day of the event as well (which I wasn't originally planning on doing as I was pretty exhausted from attending the event all day during the heatwave on Saturday).

And wouldn't you know it; by the end of the day on Sunday the grumpy tween who didn't want to be there to begin with had spent two full days there of her own volition AND was asking if we could come back next year!

Thank you for putting on a great event!

I look forward to future events at the Tank Farm as well as the opening of the Dale City location!

We all had a blast! (Figuratively AND literally as the photo below will demonstrate!)

PS: She gathered all 16 boxes in the scavenger hunt as well as the bonus and was very happy to obtain her 3D wooden puzzle, which she assembled immediately when we got home. She was also extremely excited by the Chinook because apparently one of her games has Chinook helicopters in it.

Thank you again for such a fun, unique, and engaging event!

Hello,

I wanted to write to you and express my gratitude for the work you do. This morning, I told my almost 7 year old son that he and his classmates might talk about what happened on this day many years before he was born. I gave him an account of the events that I myself could barely grasp at 18 when they occurred. He told me he knew, because he learned about it at the Tank Farm with his mother while I was doing living history. I was so proud of him and so very thankful for you all. I wanted you to know that your work matters, and that you are having an impact on this generation. Thank you and please know that it is appreciated.

Sincerely,

FF/EMT Jason Clark
