Many Thanks for Many Gifts
Dear CRC,
CRC Volunteers never cease to amaze me with their generosity. Not only do they give of their time, but they truly give so much more.
Last week, a volunteer had a connection to a commercial kitchen that had extra turkeys. She was able to connect our Food and Nutrition Manager and our truck drivers with the kitchen, and as a result, over 50 families received fresh turkey in time for their Thanksgiving meal. In a month where our Food Pantry emergency food visits are up nearly 70% from last year, and fresh donations from local grocery stores are down, this was a timely and heartwarming gift.
December is traditionally a season of giving, and there are many ways that volunteers can support the work we do.
Right now, you can help fund our Holiday Baskets program, which will provide a shopping experience for our families on December 9th. We also are in need of donations for gifts going to seniors, who come to us for necessities each week. To donate funds, head here. To donate towards the senior gifts, head here for more information.
Below, you can also find a December "Giving Calendar" that provides an easy-to-follow list of items much needed in our Food Pantry. Check that out, along with the many ways volunteers have supported CRC with their time this November!

Tabling Volunteers Take CRC Outside
CRC Volunteers showed up to table at the Exposure Skate event on November 3rd and 4th, and at the Encinitas Holiday Street Fair on November 19th. These events make our services visible to those who need them, and provide opportunities for the community to partner with us in the work we do. This month, we welcomed new tabling volunteers Paulette Khoury, Lianna Hunt, Jill Theodossi, Rachel Schweizer, Elizabeth Whittaker and Linda Wilkes to the team. They, along with long-time volunteer Carol Zeenkof, brought energy and enthusiasm (and some leftover Halloween candy!) to our booths and were able to share the value of our services to those stopping by. Thank you!

Teen Volunteers in Action (TVIA SD5)
Thank you TVIA (Teen Volunteers in Action) SD5 chapter for coming out on Saturday, November 4th to deep clean our Food Pantry. The boys and some of their parents came in ready to work and left the space looking great! We appreciate groups like TVIA SD 5, not only for their hard work and support, but also for the life-long philanthropy that often comes from these activities.

A small but mighty crew of women from North Coast Church Vista came out on November 18th to deep clean the FNC - Julie, who headed up the efforts writes, "We had a great time cleaning all the shelves and organizing the dry goods in preparation for the Open House on Sunday. Thank you for the opportunity!"
The SDA Japanese National Honor Society deep cleaned and processed donations at the Encinitas Resale Store on Sunday, November 26th.
The students brought a ton of energy to the job and left the store looking great! Store manager, Robert Pontier says he hopes the group returns sometime soon.

We will be placing an order by December 15th. Please email the volunteer manager with size (the shirts run small), Men's or Women's sizing, and color (purple or navy blue). Food Pantry visits are up more than 40% this year over last, and food donations ensure that all who come to our doors receive the help and support they need.
