What is Happening in the Philippines?

VBS to Reach Over 6,000 Kids at 125 Churches!

Mary Bacalso and Devonah Sanggo have been very diligent and busy preparing the 2024 VBS materials. The material had to be designed, translated into two other languages, and then printed. They visited six groups of churches, presented the materials to the church leaders, and gave them new ideas on how to have a more effective VBS!

We will be printing materials for over 6,000 kids. Besides printing materials for our Negros churches there will be hundreds of other churches that use the layout and copy/print their own materials. VBS is a big outreach ministry!

We will use over 55 reams of paper for the materials. We have trained workers at 93 churches on Negros and they will be traveling to Panay Island soon to help many more churches!

Pray that VBS will have a huge impact for Christ on many children this year. May many new people be reached for our Saviour!

VBS is facing a new challenge. Presently many of the islands are in the middle of a severe drought with excessively high temperatures. There is also a shortage of water because of the drought! This will make if more difficult to have VBS in the churches.

In addition to church VBS, we will have four different summer church camps. VFM will be helping with food for many campers.

A Praying Church!

A Drought on Negros!

Crop failure due to drought!

Extreme high temperature!

Shortness of drinking water!

Lack of food in several areas!

VFM has been asked to help many of our churches that are located on south Negros with rice and food. Later we will need to help with seeds for their crops.

VFM needs help buying rice! Each sack of rice (110 pounds) costs about $55. VFM is needing to buy at least 100 sacks for these struggling church families. Please help us!

Mary's Ministry to Schools and Children!

Every month Mary is looking for books, clothes, and items for the children of the Philippines. The boxes take 3-4 months to get to the schools or churches that we are helping with books! Often the school will begin a new library for the kids because now they have exciting books to read!

it is a great encouragement to the churches to get these special "balikbayan" boxes from Mary. Each box is very heavy since it is filled with children's books. The schools usually have a special assembly to celebrate their arrival.

Thank you for those sending funds each month to Vision for Missions so that we can send these boxes to the Philippines.

There are five students attending Bible College at CBS. VFM helps the students and Cebu Bible Seminary when possible!

A new, two year leadership training program will be started soon in Bacolod. This will have the students doing study while at home, and then attending classes for two weeks at the VFM Training Center four times! An Exciting New Ministrry!

VFM helped with this very small chapel recently. We currently have requests to help build 4 church buildings on 3 different islands. The need is great!

Would your church be interested in helping build a new church in the Philippines?

Church Camp Dorm Construction!

We presently are putting up the first dorm at our church camp in Bacolod. As funds are available, we hope to start a restroom and shower for the camp. We received the plans this week for this project.

VFM Urgent Needs!

It is overwhelming to all of us the things that are currently happening in the Philippines:

  • VBS is bigger than ever and so are the costs!

  • The hunger and drought needs are big!

  • 4 churches are requesting help for a building!

  • A restroom/shower are needed for our camp!

You helped J.R., the pastor of this church, have the funds for a greatly needed kidney stone surgery. He was very limited in his ability to work, but his health has returned and his ministry is growing. Thank you for helping each month for special needs like this that occur. Thank you!

Your faithful support helps many!

The churches and individuals that help support VFM monthly make the ministry of helping build churches and many other ministries in the Philippines possible!

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support.

Please keep us and the mission of Vision for Missions in your thoughts and prayers!

May God grant us His wisdom!
