Maple Road Reconstruction Project Update
The strong start for the Maple Road Reconstruction Project carried into this week. Crews have made significant progress on a number of key elements of the project, including:

  • All 48 streetlights and pavement have been removed along Maple Road.
  • Approximately 350 feet of 12" sewer main line has been installed between Woodward and Old Woodward.
  • Sanitary sewer leads in buildings are being connected to the sewer line.

Next week, we plan to begin sewer installation between Pierce and Chester.

Thank you for your patience as we work to transform the underground functionality and the above-ground aesthetics of downtown Birmingham. Although Maple Road is in total construction mode today, in a few months we’ll be back to enjoying another beautiful stretch of downtown with new streetlights, traffic signals, seating and landscaping.

We’d like to stay in touch with everyone who’s interested in Maple Road Reconstruction. If you can think of someone who would appreciate receiving these updates, please forward the sign-up information to them:  www.bit.ly/bhamnews .
