Maple Road Reconstruction Update
The Maple Road Reconstruction Project remains on schedule as crews continue to enhance the infrastructure. Work highlights from the past week included:

  • Pouring concrete parking lanes between North Old Woodward and Woodward. Concrete pouring is now complete from curb to curb in the east section of the project and is in its curing phase.
  • Completing the installation of sanitary sewer leads and beginning work on water service lines between Pierce and Chester.

Next week, crews will install structural soil for tree boxes and begin work on the electrical system between Woodward and Old Woodward. Crews will connect new water mains to the existing water mains and begin work on fiber conduits and manholes between Pierce and Chester.

The Maple Road Reconstruction Project is the second phase in the City’s three-phase plan to improve infrastructure in downtown Birmingham. When complete, Maple Road’s improvements will allow it to manage traffic more effectively; provide an attractive experience for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists; and serve the community for decades to come!
