Note from Pastor Andy
Starting on Easter Sunday, we begin a new series called "New Every Morning." There is a prayer in the United Methodist Book of Worship that begins, “New every morning is your love, Great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world.”
It is a part of the Liturgy for Morning Prayer and Praise in the Book of Worship. The prayer itself is drawn from Lamentations 3:22: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Each week of the Easter season, we will be talking about new things - A New Commandment, A New Name, A New Way, A New Heaven and a New Earth. The mystery is that the new things God is doing are continually new; they are “New Every Morning.” It’s not like God just did one new thing and then quit!
I find this profoundly hopeful. Whatever may transpire during the course of a day, every morning brings with it a sense of renewal. However far I may fall short on any given day, the next one is a new opportunity to be better. The pain of one day need not tarry until the next.
God is doing a NEW thing! God is at work in the world, bringing light and goodness where it is needed most. And that's what we'll be celebrating during the Easter season here at Maplewood UMC. Come on over and join the party!

May Covenant Renewal Sunday - May 11, 2025
PRAYERS - PRESENCE - GIFTS - SERVICE - WITNESS
May 11, 2025 will be a Covenant Renewal Sunday for Maplewood United Methodist Church. During worship that Sunday, we will have the opportunity to renew our promises in the five areas of discipleship named in our tradition - our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness. Promise Cards will be available, and will be filled out during the service. The Generosity Team will then gather the cards and tabulate them so that we can celebrate our promises the following week. Each person’s card will then be returned to them, as a reminder of the promises that we make.
May Membership Class
Maplewood UMC will hold a Membership Class at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in the Adult Sunday School area (aka Memorial Hall) in the lower level of the education wing. If you have been thinking about becoming a member of the congregation, this is your opportunity! It is the evening of a Community Unity Dinner, so feel free to fill up a plate before coming over to class.
Crossroads Church and MapleGood have a freezer stocked with meals for times of need - after a hospitalization, a new baby, or at the end of the month when money is gone. MUMC contributes by sending excess food from our First Sunday potluck and our Community Unity Center’s Third Thursday dinners.
Please use this resource for yourself or a neighbor when needed; contribute by making double meals and sharing. To arrange delivery of a donation or how to pick-up meals contact Susan @ 314 619-1207 or Christine @ 314 644-6701.
