Whether you're in town to view the flowers along Henderson Canyon Road or out at Arroyo Salado, don't forget to stop by ABDNHA's own Desert Garden. Right now, the brittlebush is in its full glorious bloom. Also blooming are our orchid tree, silver leaf cassia, apricot mallow, red fairy duster, lantana, English lavender and desert marigold. This beautiful botanical garden is maintained by our awesome garden volunteers! | |
It's not just about wildflowers here in Borrego - there's plenty of wildlife here that keeps us entertained as well! Borrego resident and ABDNHA volunteer Bobby Brumback was lucky enough to capture these critter cam images of a neighborhood bobcat visiting his backyard!
Did you know that bobcats ... ?
- Are about twice the size of adult domestic cats.
- Do most of their hunting at dawn and dusk.
- Are excellent climbers and jumpers.
- Can run up to 30 mph.
- Leave pawprints about 2 inches long with no claw marks.
- Prey on jackrabbits, cottontails, rodents, birds and insects.
