Lee Grismer will give a photographic presentation of these species and why they occur in certain areas of the park and not others. He will also be launching his new eBook "A Photographic Field Guide to the Amphibians and Reptiles of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California," which will be a free pdf download.

Borrego Springs does not have an official tree, but if there was one, it would certainly be the Palo Verde. They are perfectly suited to the desert environment. They require little water, and the native trees grow rapidly in the surrounding desert. Around the homes and in other landscaping environments, you will find other species of the Palo Verde, some of them bred specifically to display their beautiful branch patterns and green bark. In tonight's program, Kate Harper tells us about the adaptations of the Palo Verde tree that make it the perfect tree for our desert environment.
