Cholla District Weekly Update

March 26, 2026

Dear Cholla Residents,

I am sponsoring three events this spring within the Cholla District that I wanted to share with you.

April 4, 2026, 7 AM - 9 AM: Glendale Shred & Battery Recycling Event
Vice Mayor Malnar and I are co-hosting this event at the Foothills Library Parking Lot on Saturday, April 4 beginning at 7 AM. Glendale residents can drop off up to 5 boxes of paper (staples are okay) to be shredded by a professional shredding service. We have contracted 3 trucks, and the event will continue until 9 AM or until all three trucks are full (whichever comes first). The Glendale Fire Department will also be on site to accept rechargeable batteries up to 2 lbs. for recycling during the event. See the flyer for more details.

April 8, 2026, 11 AM - 1 PM: Public Safety Appreciation Day

On Wednesday, April 8, I am providing over 300 lunches to all on-duty Glendale Police and Fire personnel from Babbo Italian Eatery. We often take for granted the things that are most important to us, and our First Responders are certainly one of them. They are ready and available to protect and serve our community around the clock every single day of the year. I began hosting this annual event in 2023 as a tangible way to show my appreciation to these important individuals within our community. I am proud to sponsor this event and appreciate the community partners that are assisting with the event, including Glendale Rotary Club and Bell Bank. While a few Public Safety personnel will come to Babbo to eat, the majority of the meals will be delivered by volunteers to the individual precincts and stations around Glendale. A lunch and a thank you note are just a small way to show gratitude for the service that Glendale's police and fire personnel provide to this community 365 days each year.

May 7, 2026, 5 PM - 7:30 PM: Interactive Public Safety District Meeting

Registration is now open to all Cholla District residents to attend a free special spring district meeting that I am hosting on Thursday, May 7 at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center. Come and enjoy complimentary hot dogs, hamburgers, and other refreshments at 5 PM. Beginning at 5:30 PM, attendees will participate in three interactive training sessions:

  • The Glendale Police Department will present on Neighborhood Watch Programs and the Real Time Crime Center.
  • The Emergency Management Department will discuss Personal Preparedness and Go-Bag Kits.
  • The Glendale Fire Department will provide hands-on CPR and AED training.

At the conclusion of these sessions, participants will be entered into prize drawings for event tickets at Desert Diamond Arena, as well as other items including a Go-Bag Kit from Emergency Management.

In order to attend, please RSVP online here.

My office is always open and ready to assist you. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you may have. I value your input and opinion.

Warm Regards,

Lauren Tolmachoff
