THE RIGHT WAY
Friday, February 26, 2021
Yesterday, we studied David’s statement (in Psalm 18:30) that God’s “way” is “perfect.” We learned, in fact, that following his Way (Jesus) is the only possible way to arrive at the goal of relationship with God. But, even if God’s way is “perfect,” is it the “right” way? Human “sheep” (like David and you and I) often ask this question because we tend to think that the “right” way would be the easy way, and then we find out that God’s way isn’t always easy. He leads us (Psalm 23:2), but not only to “still waters” — sometimes, he leads us through “dark valleys” (Psalm 23:4). Yet, right between those two verses, David asserts that God’s way is, indeed, the right way (the “path of righteousness”). Difficult as it may be (for Jesus, for David and for us), God’s way is still the only way that leads to the goal — the “house of the LORD” (Psalm 23:6), where we shall dwell (safe from all difficulties) forever.

We find, then (as David did), that both the wrong way and the right way can be “the hard way” (so there’s no getting around that problem!), but that the right way is still the best way because it’s the only way that gets us where we want to go.

Keep living God’s way, whether it’s easy or hard!
