Instructional Giving

It seems every day that I get a bill in the mail or go shopping to buy something there is an increase in a tax or service I'm subscribed to. These are what I call "instructional giving" because of the laws that have been passed. We gripe but we pay it. What about giving to God? Is it grudgingly or with gladness of heart?
I have never thought of this passage of Scripture in light of stewardship before, but I think it is there. Solomon divided the kingdom into 12 regions and each district governor was instructed to provide the resources to feed the king and his household for each day of their assigned month, which was an enormous amount! They made sure that nothing was lacking - even feed for the king's horses. The governors fulfilled their responsibilities as they were instructed to do. If only we would see God's kingdom that way. Everyone should provide their share with gladness and joy. Unfortunately, we want to make sure our own needs are met first.
God has given us specific instructions as the stewards of his resources and our giving to his kingdom. We just need to obey.
