Maranatha Devotional
Obedience - Lesson 1
June 1, 2015

Each of the next three devotionals involve obedience or the lack thereof. Today's Scripture is the familiar story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The angels of the Lord asked Lot to take his wife and their two daughters and flee the city before its destruction " ... lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city." The next words are almost unbelievable: "And while he lingered ... " The angels had to literally pull them from the city.

The second act of disobedience involved where the angels told them to go: to the mountains. Lot wanted to go to a little city named Zoar (meaning "little"). Lot was granted his request.

The third act of disobedience was Lot's wife looking back to Sodom after being instructed by the angels not to: she turned into a pillar of salt.
How different this account would have been if they had just obeyed.
Do we have a hard time OBEYING GOD and HIS WORD? Verse 16 says: " ... the Lord being merciful ... "

"Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey." - Sammis
