When I first read this Psalm, I could imagine myself walking around on the farm where I was born and raised along with my nine siblings. There are six still living (we lost one just two days ago to our enemy death), and we, once again, all live on the home place with many of our nephews and nieces.
As I walk, I check on the garden, fruit trees, flowers and the crops planted in the fields. Things are peaceful as I walk and talk with God about the concerns I have over the situations happening in our world: Lord, there seems to be no respect for life as we hear of wars, murder, rape, spousal abuse, bullying, abortion, etc. Your Word tells me you abhor these things as well as apostasy.
Then I remember, the last part of the chapter tells me that you, O God, are my refuge and strength, your love, peace and comfort are with me as I go on my walk through life.
Father, thank you for being my refuge and source of strength!!
