Abram has now begun the journey that ultimately will lead to our Savior (see Galatians 3:16). One of the many amazing things about Abram's life is how he began this walk. He had been told to leave his home, his father's house, the very country he had lived in and go. The Lord shared with him that he would be made into a great nation, he would be blessed, and his very name would be great - that he would be a blessing. In fact, all the families of the earth would be blessed because of him. "So Abram went, as the Lord had told him." Hebrews 11:8b says, "And he went out, not knowing where he was going." Talk about acting on faith! How do we respond when told to do something by God? We want details, confirmations, assurances. We would never dream of acting without seeing the entire plan. What opportunities do we miss by failing to begin our walk before the whole map is laid out for us? Abram was given the big picture, but so are we! Let us be sure to step out on faith, knowing we can depend entirely on God to direct our paths - as we go.
Father, guide our steps as we go. Give us the courage and desire to follow as you lead.
