Throughout the Bible, God makes promises to individuals and groups of people. Often these promises seem impossible because of earthly circumstances. In today's Scripture, God promises Abram's descendents. Verse 6 says, "And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith." When Abram believed that he would have descendents, God added that they would possess the land in which Abram now resided. From a human stand point, there were many obstacles that stood in the way. However, because God said it, Abram believed it.
Has God given you a personal promise? Does it appear impossible due to all the earthly obstacles you see lying between you and the promise? Believe it! God will count you righteous because of your faith.
"The LORD always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does" (Psalm 145:13b NLT).
