God sends Moses back to Egypt to meet with the elders of Israel and tells him to say to them, "The LORD, the God of your fathers - the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - appeared to me ... " God wanted Moses to clearly identify who was going to get them out of Egypt and into Canaan. He was the Lord - the "I Am." As our "I Am" he is whatever we need him to be. Are we troubled? He is our peace. Are we hungry or thirsty? He is the Bread of Life and the Water of Life. Are we weary? He is our rest and strength. Are we beset by enemies? He is our refuge and tower of defense. Are we lost? He is our Savior and guide. He was also the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who made a covenant with them to multiply their descendents and bring them into the Land of Promise.
Today, Jesus is Lord. Our "I Am" who has made a new covenant of grace with us and sealed it with his blood. Soon in fulfillment of his promise he will come again.
Remember, in this day of uncertainty Jesus is all we need!
