Exodus 14:1-9
The Israelites weren't caught between the proverbial "rock and hard place." Rather, they were caught between the Red Sea and the approaching Egyptian army. What were they to do? Why would Moses (and God) lead them to this place where they were trapped? They were about to be ambushed and there was no escape, so it seemed. But God was the rock of deliverance who stood between the Israelites and the Egyptians, in the form of the pillar of fire and the cloud (4:19-20).

Sometimes it seems that we have been led into a trap and we're caught between Pharaoh and the Sea. The fact is, we may well have been led into a trap. God led the Israelites to this place that he might "get glory over Pharaoh and all his host," that they would "know that I am the Lord" (v. 4).
If God leads us into a trap, be sure that he will deliver us, that he might be glorified. Don't despair, but trust him and go forward as he leads.

"Stand firm and see" God's deliverance. Trust and follow him (4:13, 15).
