Standing Tall
Monday, November 14, 2016

Recently, I was thinking about high school and realizing what cowards we all were. We did whatever was necessary to fit into a particular clique, and we all looked down on everyone else, trying to assure ourselves that we were superior in some way. Even the bullies had to knock people down so they could feel taller. It was a culture of shaming others in order to feel better about ourselves.

It's a relief to know that God not only forgives the sins of our youth, but he will never shame those who trust in him. Even as adults we may face enemies who want to put us to shame, but in the end they will have to stand before God just like everyone else, and then they will truly know what shame is. For the believer, shame will be a thing of the past. We will be able to look into the face of our Lord and Savior and we'll see only his love for us. We'll know what it means to be an overcomer, not by knocking people down, but by being lifted up by the Savior.

Thank You, Father, that your steadfast love and mercy are greater than all my sin and weakness!
