In today’s reading, we see one king who was pleasing to the Lord and one who did evil against the Lord. Such a seesaw battle of faithfulness to God is seen throughout the Old Testament. It sill occurs today.
A bright spot in all the history of the kings of Israel and Judah is the provision of God to the widow and her son for granting Elijah a place to stay. For her willingness to believe Elijah’s words from the Lord of provision of flour and oil for she and her son, God did supply what she needed. He also granted life to her son when he died. The woman was convinced that the Lord spoke through Elijah.
We may never experience what Elijah and the woman experienced but we have a choice, as did the kings and Elijah, to either be faithful to the Lord or to be unfaithful. God rewards faithfulness.
Those who desire to live faithfully to the Lord are to live in such a way as to convince others that God’s word is alive. God’s Word is to be lived out through our lives. One can experience remarkable events through faithful living. Trust in God to have victory through your faithfulness.
Your little becomes much when you trust in God.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your provision each day. I want to live in a way that convinces others that you speak and live through me. Amen.
