Deuteronomy 4:32-49
There are many times when we do well to stop and remember. Remember all the stories, truths and warnings that God has given us in his Word. Remember what God has done for your family, perhaps for your friend or neighbor, or for you personally. Sure, there have been difficult times, but hasn't the Lord been there to "make a way," to walk you through it? Didn't he give you that friend who encouraged you, as well as his own sweet Spirit reminding you of his love, his presence and his wisdom?

Remembering helps us press on. Perhaps you could create "days of gratitude" throughout the year when you specifically remember - write down those things or events for which you thank the Lord. It may well include even many of those very difficult things. Often this should include our heritage and family, not because they were perfect, but because the Lord walked with us through the imperfect and out into the wider expanse of his covenant love.

Lord Jesus, thank you for all the big and small things that you have done for me and in my life. Help me remember just who you truly are, my God and my redeemer. Amen.
