Protection Within God's Boundaries
Saturday, January 27, 2018

Leviticus 25:18-28
God places boundaries around us not because he is trying put obstacles or limitations on us, but for our protection, our freedom and his blessing. God made provisions in his plan for Sabbath (rest). He did so for us as humans in Genesis for worship and for our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. God instituted Sabbath for the land for our food provision. By providing guidelines for giving land rest, he insures that the land will keep providing for our benefit. By giving a year of Jubilee, God offers us an opportunity for a new beginning.

God's boundaries are an expression of his love and protection for us. If we don't rest, we faint from exhaustion. If the land doesn't rest, it fails to produce food for our nourishment. If God doesn't give us Jubilee, then we can easily become hardened toward the needs of others. It is important for us to remain compassionate toward one another.

Are you safe within the boundaries that God has set for you?

Father, thank you for loving us enough to place boundaries of protection around us so that we can flourish. Amen.
