Have we ever rejected people based upon their physical appearances, their social statuses, the color of their skin, their education or even their spiritual maturity? Our paradigms, habitually developed early in our lives, often cause us to view others with jaded or jaundiced eyes, thus missing the truth of God and his Word.
Bildad the Shuhite once again makes an "absolute" statement in the above verses concerning Job's sinfulness, presuming upon Bildad's limited
knowledge of God's character. In essence he was saying, "Job, if you were a blameless man, God would not have rejected you."
We cannot presume to know God well enough to make absolute statements concerning his character beyond the Bible. He reveals himself through his Word and ultimately through the character of his Son and his sacrifice. It is our responsibility, therefore, to grow in our relationship with him, and as he reveals more of the mystery of his character to us, we will grow in our understanding. Thus we will not make absolute statements that reveal our ignorance about the mystery of God's character that he has chosen to keep hidden from man.
Father, I desire to grow in my relationship with you so absolute statements based upon my feelings and paradigms will fall away in light of the wisdom and fellowship of your Spirit.
