The people of God, under the leadership of Moses, continued on their journey of deliverance. Only three days after the Red Sea crossing, they entered into the wilderness, found no water, and the "grumbling" began. Why is it that we so soon forget what God has done for us? It seems that our needs tend to cause us to forget what God has done for us. But God is faithful to his people and showed Moses, of all things, "a log." Often what God calls us to do does not make sense to us. Moses, however, was obedient, tossed the log into the water and it became sweet!
These days of testing were about God's people trusting him. If they were to continue to benefit from God's provision and protection they needed to listen, trust and obey his statutes and rules - as do we! Often God will provide not only what we need, but will go beyond and provide the best! Let's not forget what he's done for us.
Fear not little flock, He goeth ahead, your Shepherd selects the path you must tread; The waters of Marah He'll sweeten for thee, He drank all the bitter in Gethsemane" (From the hymn "Only Believe").
