When You've Lost it All

Job has been defending himself to his friends for awhile about why he has had to suffer. Then, he starts looking back, longing for what he has lost - his intimate relationship with God, God's protection, his light, his blessings. He has also lost his children. Finally, he mentions losing his great wealth.
What have you lost? Is your relationship with God not what it was? Have you lost family members? How's your health? What is your financial situation? Sometimes our pain is so sharp we can barely breathe. Other times we move along failing to notice we have moved away from what God wants for us. Often we enjoy our own private "Pity Party."
Whatever we have lost, God knows. He is not surprised by our anger, pain or hopelessness. We know our friends will sometimes let us down. God will not. He will never leave us or forsake us. His promises will not be broken. Blessed assurance!
Father, assure me of your presence, your love, your promises. Remind me that you will never leave me.
