Are we Being Heard?

As a child my mother often had to get my attention by saying, "Are you listening to me?" (most often in capital letters). And I had to admit very likely my mind was elsewhere and not attentive to my mother's instruction.
Often we pray and feel God may not be listening because he does not "answer" our prayer immediately or in the manner we so desire. However, in the above verse, after 400 years of captivity and slavery, God was assuring the nation of Israel he was listening and was ready to answer their cry in his time.
We also can rest assured God hears our prayer, and, if he does not answer promptly or in the affirmative in which we ask, he has a greater plan and will. He possibly is molding us to help build his kingdom in ways we cannot imagine. Our patience and trust in his sovereignty is the key.
Lord, work the patience of your Holy Spirit in my life today to continue asking in faith, and to wait for your perfect answer, no matter how long it may take.
