Wasted Water?

1 Chronicles 11:10-19
You've gotta wonder how those three guys felt - David's mighty men who risked their lives to bring him a drink of water from the village well in Bethlehem, only to watch him pour it out onto the ground!

It happened this way: David and his men were hiding out in the hills, as the mighty Philistine army had firmly entrenched its forces in Bethlehem, his hometown. One day he said, "I'd give anything for a cool drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!" So three of his bravest and most loyal followers went down, broke through enemy lines, and brought the cherished water back to their leader! Can you imagine that kind of loyalty and heroism?!
But David's response is a shocker! As he "poured it out before the Lord," David was actually proclaiming, "I am not worthy of such a gift. Therefore, I must give it to the only One who is worthy!" So this was an an act of gratitude and worship, of great humility and submission ... and I'll bet it did not go unnoticed by his loyal men.

Have we freely, humbly, and worshipfully offered our most precious gifts up to the ultimate Giver, who alone is worthy?

What some consider to be wasteful, others know to be worship!
