If our hearts are in a right relationship with the Lord God, and we have remembered what he has done for us in creation, in salvation and in plans for eternity, then it should not be difficult for us to live in obedience to such a wonderful and awe-inspiring God who loves us so very much. Jesus summed up the Old Testament Law as loving God with our whole beings and loving our neighbors.
The first four commands illustrate the worship that we give God in daily life, placing him at the center of our hearts and goals, seeking to please him in daily speech as well as in formal worship. The latter six show us how to live out in relationships in the home and among our neighbors and our communities. An old chorus explained JOY as Jesus, and Others, and You. The order is important for successful daily living.
Lord, help me to keep the right order in my life that I may truly live in worshipful obedience and joy every day. Amen.
