Genesis 9:18-27
Noah and his family not only survived the flood, but found bounty and blessing after God brought them out of the ark. That bounty led to Noah's new found passion - wine.

Maybe he should never have planted that vineyard. Maybe he should have made raisins, not wine. In any case, he fell prey to his own choice. It was his choice that led him there, and no one else's, including Ham!

Putting aside all the conjecture and gossip built around this text, the real tragedy is that we miss that the great man of faith - Noah - messed up and caused this situation in the first place. It is Noah that cursed his own son after he failed to do what was right.

At times, we all fall prey to our own "vineyards of temptation." Later we may look back in horror at our own "indecent exposure." The difference will rest in how we move forward. Will we lash out at those who saw us? Or will we remain humble, honest and tempered by our realization that we are all sinners saved by divine grace?

Lord, if I fail, help me own my responsibility. Help me embrace your forgiveness and grace.
