Deuteronomy 2:1-25
I love the words of verse 7 in this great Scripture promise, " ... He knows you are going through this great wilderness ... you have lacked nothing." The Lord was with his people for the 40 years of their journey through unknown and unlimited trials and troubles. It's a rare Christian who has not had a similar experience in life and perhaps someone who is reading this is presently engulfed in the darkness of distress, a wilderness of his own. Who among you has not had extended periods of desperate prayer when you wore holes in your prayer rug and blisters on your knees? You've wept your tears dry and cried out until words wouldn't come and the anguish of your mind and heart is audible only to God. But then God awakens you to the unyielding, sure and certain knowledge "He knows you are going through this ... " I've had this experience, brethren, and when I could not hear God speaking silently or know his presence because of the deafening sound of my own grief I'd awaken at night and hear God say, "I know ... "

Lord, remind me to stop speaking and start listening.
