In one church where I served as pastor, the pulpit microphone was patched into the nursery so that the nursery workers could hear the service. Instead of enjoying the service the nursery workers had to turn the speakers off because my singing was making all the babies cry. As Moses and Joshua came down the mountain they heard a noise coming out of the camp. In verse 18b - "Moses replied: it is the sound of singing that I hear." And his anger burned. The people thought they were worshiping. It was fun, it was entertaining, but it was a selfish, false worship. My prayer and desire is that my life and worship might reflect Jesus and his Word both inside and outside the church. This story does not have a very good ending for many. Almost 3,000 lost their lives. It stands as a warning that our everyday lives must be as sincere as our songs of worship.
Psalm 19:14 (KJV) - "Let the Words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer."
