God’s words are perfect, always on time and always what we need to hear. He has our best interests at heart. God’s words are like silver refined in the fire.
The process of refining silver takes a material that has no value and makes it one of value, worth and purpose. It takes intense heat and fire to remove the impurities and to make the silver strong to withstand the pressures of use, to be able to do what it is meant to do. The trials that God allows in our lives are meant to purify and strengthen us so we are ready for service to him. This way we will have strength, so we will not fall apart at the first hint of challenge. We can then stand firmly rooted in what we know.
Silver symbolizes redemption and was used as the primary means of exchange in the Bible. Judas tried to redeem his information about who Jesus was for 30 pieces of silver. Jesus is our redemption, and as a result we do not need silver or other compensation to be his children.
I know there are areas in my life that I need to be obedient in allowing God to refine and purify me so I can have a deeper relationship with him. I need to step out in faith to allow him to do so.
Lord, help us to have steadfast and pure hearts as we seek you more and serve you more out of love and obedience. Amen.
