One of the best ways to learn something through memorization is to sing the words as a song. How many jingles from old commercials can you still sing many years later? I'll never forget when I learned the words to a McDonald's jingle of "Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun." Or how about the jingle "Brill cream a little dab will do ya?" (That dates me).
The point is also demonstrated in the singing of the alphabet song. "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, tell me what you think of me." If you want someone to remember something important; sing it as a song. God knew and David communicated this when he wrote and sang Psalm 22. In fact Jesus even quotes part of the song as he hung on the cross when he said; "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me." To all singers of David's psalm, each would instantly realize who was hanging on the cross; God's one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
Read the psalm in a different way today. Read this prophetic song about the life and purpose of Jesus Christ. Sing the message of this psalm with a loud voice as we proclaim the plan of God.
