Maranatha Devotional
Rest Secure
Thursday, June 30, 2016

I have always been a very nervous person, insecure in whatever task I was undertaking. I tend to avoid confrontation at all costs. I will never understand why God called me to be a pastor. My failures in deed and character are ever before me. Yet as I read verses 5 and 6 I am reminded of just how much God has blessed me. I have a beautiful wife, lovely children and grandchildren whom I adore. Despite my insecurities, I have enjoyed each church where I have been the pastor and youth camp I have directed. Truly the boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for me. Therefore, I will set the Lord always before me, holding tightly to his hand as I rest secure in the Blessed Hope that he will not abandon me to the grave.

Proverbs 18:10 (NIV): "The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe."
