We live in times that seem to turn against the people of the Bible. We see babies murdered by the tens of thousands, their parts being sold, homosexuals given the right to marry, Boy Scouts letting homosexuals be leaders, just to name a few. As vv. 1-2 state, the heathen rage, kings set themselves against God, and rulers seek more ways to turn from God. We can easily forget that he is in control. As v. 4 states, he sits in heaven and laughs at the evil ways of man. As it has been said, we may lose a few battles, but we know that God wins the war.

We have seen the future and know that when Christ returns the victory will be ours. Until that day comes we have to seek to live for him - helping others to see that God is in control, so those who lead us are wise and seek God in all that they do.

Dear Lord, in these trying times, help us and those who lead our nation on both the local and national levels to be faithful to you.
