"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" (Ps. 24:1, NIV).
Talk about "a tough act to follow"! The 23rd Psalm is probably the most beloved and recited, maybe one of the favorite Scripture passages of all time! How would you like to be slotted as Psalm 24? Talk about anti-climactic! What's left to say? Well, as it turns out, plenty! David, who penned this psalm (as well as the 23rd), was having another good (i.e. inspired) day when he wrote what was to become Psalm 24, which discusses the absolute lordship of our Lord.
The same Lord who is described as our Shepherd/Provider in Psalm 23 is addressed as the authoritative, rightful owner of everything we know
and experience in Psalm 24. He's the one in charge, and one day everyone will certainly realize that truth! His unrivaled majesty is proclaimed throughout this beautiful Psalm. Be sure to read all 10 verses aloud, reflecting upon how very true they are and what they mean for us as his children, and for our glorious future! Then bow in thanksgiving and worship him. It will make a significant difference in how you face this day!
The songwriter once declared that "the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace!"
