PIECES OF THE PUZZLE FITTING TOGETHER GOD'S WORD
Thursday, October 17, 2019
The Chapters 9–12 of 2 Kings include several stories of the kings of Judah. Intrigue, evil, good and action fill the pages. I see them as pieces of the puzzle in the picture of God’s plan. Jehu killed King Joram and had his body thrown into a field belonging to Naboth to fulfill the word of the Lord. Jezebel, the wicked wife of King Ahab, died as the word of the Lord had spoken. All the relatives of King Ahab were killed to fulfill the word of the Lord. “The Lord declared through his servant Elijah that this would happen” (2 Kings 10:10, NLT).

It is difficult to read and understand the events that took place during the reigns of the kings. Many did evil in the sight of the Lord. Some fulfilled the word of the Lord, but still did evil. God’s word was always fulfilled.

It is challenging to understand all the events in today’s world. The world and many of its leaders seem to be unpredictable and ungodly. Good and evil are evidenced by leaders. One can be sure, as was Jehu, God has a plan and it will not fail. Playing on Pandora right now is, “This is My Father’s World, I rest me in the thought, that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.” The plan of God is a sure foundation through all we see occurring in the world. The Word of God is the puzzle picture that brings peace.

Lord, when so much in the world seems oft so wrong, “O for grace to trust you more!” Amen.
