Exodus 16:1-12
When the Israelites were persecuted in Egypt God rescued them from all the hardships they endured. Yet, how quickly they forgot all this once they were out. Very quickly they began to grumble and complain about what they didn't have - the food and water - rather than what they now had - freedom. Their thoughts, like ours, so many times focused on the temporary and immediate, rather than on the more permanent. They were not willing to sacrifice more then to have the best they could have later. Moses and Aaron chastised them for their grumbling attitudes when they had so much.

God expressed his love for them by being patient and compassionate with their grumbling and disregard for him. They could not understand how God was providing for them, so God provided food and water for them in the desert. To make it even more clear God appeared to them in a cloud to remind them of his glory. Even then they did not completely understand.

Let us remember that the goodness of God does not change, and we need to trust him all the days of our lives.
