I can picture in my mind my wife Margaret baking cookies. After mixing up the cookie dough and chilling it in the refrigerator she would roll it out flat, cut it into various shapes with cookie cutters and then place the cookies on a baking sheet for baking.
I can also picture our Mighty Creator forming the stars and planets with his hands and placing them in the heavens, saying: “Earth, I want you to be here. Moon, you will be over there. Sun, you will be out here, and Saturn you will have rings...” Then, I see him taking a handful of dirt and forming man and placing him on the earth to care for and populate it.
I have a friend who has said while enjoying some home-grown veggies from his garden, God can make the dirt taste good. I would also say that in creating men and women, God makes dust look good. From babies to adults, God makes us look good and uniquely beautiful
Indeed, the heavens and the earth are the work of God’s hands and declare to us his glory.
How tragic that because of man’s sin, God had to pronounce a curse on his creation. Sickness and death have plagued us ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. However, God is not finished with this earth yet. He is going to cleanse and renew it - the curse will be removed and sin will never enter it again. Praise his holy name!
Genesis tells us that when God finished the work of creation, he called it very good. And when God creates the new heaven and earth where sin and death will forever be banished, behold, it will be very, very, very good!
