The Obedience of Abram
Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Genesis 12:1-9
God told Abram to "get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred;" God told Abram to take a leap of faith into the unknown to trust him. Abram obeyed God and set forth at the age of 75 with his wife Sarai and Lot, his nephew. God promised to make Israel a great nation and bring his descendants to the Promised Land. God would bless those who blessed him and curse those who curse him.

God's call to Abram is a call to serve, to be a blessing to others, but it is also a declaration of love and obedience.

God has a call on our lives today; some go out to the mission field to Africa, a long way from home, yet in obedience to God they go forth. We are all called to go forth today and do the will of God in our lives. Walking by faith is not easy, yet when we take the first step, God will lead the way and always be with us, for his word is truth. Obedience is what God requires of us, for obedience is better than sacrifice.

We walk by faith not sight.
