Trust and Obey!

God told Moses to go to the elders of Israel and what to say to them.He also said the elders would listen to him (Ex. 3:16-18). Then he and the elders were to go and confront Pharaoh. But instead of quickly obeying the Lord's clear command, Moses delays obedience by his "What if they do not believe me or listen ... " (v. 1 NIV).
Just as Moses delayed obedience by his "What ifs" many of us come up with our own lists of excuses and "What ifs?" that keep us from carrying out the clear commands of the Lord.
God graciously gave Moses some signs to strengthen his faith and move him to obedience. With a strong faith in the Lord's promise to be with us, may we obey quickly and not let our "What ifs?" keep us from obeying his clear commands.
The old hymn writer has captured it well: "Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus!"
